Pokémon Center invite codes: how its invite-only sales work, and how other stores compare

On October 5, 2026, Pokémon Center's exclusive Ascended Heroes Elite Trainer Box went invite-only: to buy it, you needed a personal link sent by email. Here's how those invitations work, what Pokémon Center says and doesn't say, and how it compares with Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon and Riot.

In short

  • Pokémon Center has done this before. Its Early Access program dates from April 2026: a plush set came first, then in July a Special Delivery Box with an Elite Trainer Box inside. October 5 is the first time we've seen a Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box offered on its own this way.
  • You can't ask for an invitation. Pokémon Center picks newsletter subscribers who meet criteria it doesn't share. If you aren't picked, you get no email.
  • The link is yours alone: unique, single-use, tied to your email, with an expiration date in the email. Extra sign-ups don't help and can void it.
  • Other stores make you ask first. Walmart runs random drawings; Best Buy and Amazon have a request button; Riot runs drawings for its own store.

What happened on October 5

The Ascended Heroes Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box
Ascended Heroes Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box$59.99 · 11 packs · first released February 20, 2026Two N's Zekrom promos, one with a Pokémon Center logo (pokemon.com; price: PokeBeach)

At about 12:20 PM Central, restock trackers reported that the product page for this box had changed to invite-only. At about 12:59 PM they reported that invitations were going out by email, with a limit of 2 per order (Pokémon TCG Restocks, October 5). The box came out in February and is sold only by Pokémon Center.

As of October 5, Pokémon Center hadn't posted anything about this sale: not why the box is back, how many invitations went out, or how long they last. We haven't found any news coverage of it yet either. Its general rules for invitations are public, though, and it has sold this way before.

Pokémon Center has done this before

The first invitations were for a plush set, not cards. In July, a bundle with an Elite Trainer Box inside was sold by invitation only. Here's every earlier invitation sale we could find, with how each was reported.

  1. Early Access appears in Pokémon Center's FAQ, with no press release (PokeBeach, Cardlines). Three days later, Chaos Rising pre-orders opened through the usual waiting room, and PokeBeach noted the program "hasn't been used for TCG products yet" (PokeBeach, April 13).
  2. The first invitations: a Furret Bowling Plush Set. Not a card product (tracker report, April 17).
  3. A collector in Canada reported emailed invitation codes "to purchase Pokemon TCG product". The product wasn't named, and we found no other report of it (post, April 23).
  4. The Special Delivery Box: an Elite Trainer Box (some with two extra packs) plus two plush, a plush keychain, a deck box and a pin. Trackers reported the page on July 8, already requiring an invitation code, and invitations going out on July 14 (July 8, July 14). In the UK it was £52.99 and the links expired July 20. Invitees reported it selling out within minutes of the emails, well before the links expired (Kanto Post, July 15).
  5. The Mega Heroes Mini Tins page briefly said "This product requires an invitation code to be purchased." We found no report of an invitation sale following it (tracker report, September 17).
  6. The Ascended Heroes Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box, invitation only, limit 2 per order. The first time we've seen a Pokémon Center ETB offered on its own this way.

The July sale shows the catch: an invitation is a chance to buy, not a reserved box. Pokémon Center hasn't said how many invitations it sends for each item.

How Pokémon Center's invitations work

From Pokémon Center's Early Access FAQ, posted in April 2026 and reproduced by PokeBeach (April 10, 2026) and Cardlines (June 4, 2026). Pokémon Center calls it a way for "selected customers" to buy popular items before they're more widely released.

Who can get one
Pokémon Center newsletter subscribers who meet "specific criteria". Pokémon Center doesn't share the criteria, and meeting them doesn't guarantee an invitation.
Where
The United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.
Can you ask for one?
No. There's no request button. If you aren't selected, you won't get an email.
Account
You don't need an account to be invited, but you have to log in or register with the same email address to check out.
The link
Unique to you, not transferable, and single-use. Sharing it isn't supported, and links can be disabled if Pokémon Center suspects misuse.
How long it lasts
The email gives an expiration date. Items are available while supplies last, so an invitation doesn't guarantee stock.
Which products
Any item, pre-orders included. Support won't say in advance which items are part of it.
Extra emails
Signing up more than once or with other addresses doesn't raise your chances and may get the invitation voided.

Pokémon Center describes Early Access as buying before a wider release. We haven't seen a report of the Special Delivery Box or the October 5 box going on open sale afterwards.

Sources: Best Buy, PokeBeach (November 13, 2025); Amazon, Amazon help; Walmart, Walmart drawing FAQ; Riot, Radiance drawing FAQ. All checked October 5, 2026.

  • Best Buy was the first big-box store in the US to use invitations for all its online Pokémon releases, from November 2025. If you're not picked, you stay on the list in case of a restock (PokeBeach).
  • Amazon lets you request one invitation per item and keeps your request for later stock. If the timer runs out, you have to request again (Amazon).
  • Walmart charges only if you're selected and the order goes through. Its 30th Celebration drawings closed September 30 (Walmart).
  • Riot emails winners a link a few days after entries close. If a winner doesn't buy within 24 hours, someone new is drawn (Riot, September 25, 2026). See the Radiance release page for its current drawing.

The big difference: Pokémon Center is the only one of these where there's nothing to enter. Best Buy names some of what it looks at; Pokémon Center doesn't name anything. In our glossary, this is an invitation list, as opposed to a drawing or a queue.

What you can do

  • Subscribe to the Pokémon Center newsletter with the email you'll check out with, and keep marketing emails turned on in your account (Cardlines).
  • Use one address only. More sign-ups don't help, and the FAQ says they can void an invitation.
  • Check spam and promotions folders, and give it time: trackers said emails "may take some time" to arrive on October 5.
  • Use the link soon, on one device and browser. Items go while supplies last, even before the expiration date.
  • Don't buy or share links. Each one is tied to the invited email and isn't transferable, and Pokémon Center says misused links can be disabled.
  • Have a plan B. An invitation can't be requested, so watch the other stores too. Our Windows page shows buying windows as they open, and Deals shows who has it at a fair price.

What we don't know yet

  • Who gets picked. Collectors have guessed at purchase history, account age and how long you've been subscribed. Pokémon Center hasn't confirmed any of it (Cardlines).
  • How many invitations went out on October 5, and how long they last.
  • Whether it spreads. Delta Reign pre-orders on September 30 used a waiting room, not invitations (how that went). Delta Reign comes out November 6; see the Pokémon releases for every date.

We'll keep tracking invite-only sales at Pokémon Center and update this guide when anything changes.

Store rules as of October 5, 2026; stores change them without notice. Earlier sales and the October 5 sale are described from restock trackers' posts on the dates shown and from Kanto Post; Pokémon Center hasn't commented on any of them.
