Buy Pokémon cards at the price on the box

What's coming out, how to get in line, and what's at a fair price right now. Free, no sign-up.

Buy now at a fair price

From independent card shops, before shipping. A few dollars over the box price is usually a small shop covering its costs.

Coming soon

Release days and when pre-orders open.

Get in line

The fair way to buy a hot item is to be ready before it drops. Each store works a little differently.

New to this? The one-minute guide

Buying for a kid, or getting back into the hobby.

What the words mean
MSRP, or "the price on the box"
The price the maker sets. A fair price is at or close to it. Anything far above it is a reseller.
Pre-order
Paying ahead to get the product on release day. The best way to get a popular item at the box price.
Queue or waiting room
A virtual line a store uses on busy drops. Stay on the page and do not refresh, or you lose your place.
Drawing or lottery
Some stores pick buyers at random for hot items. Enter while signed in; winners are charged and shipped.
Reseller or scalper
Someone who buys to resell at a big markup. On Walmart and Amazon, look for "sold and shipped by" the store itself.

Windows

Every legitimate shot at MSRP is an announced window: a pre-order opening, an invitation, a drawing, a queue day. Each one has an open time, the link, and where you stand with it. Your statuses stay on this device.

Big store report card

How Walmart, Pokémon Center, Amazon, Target, GameStop and Dick's treat regular buyers of sealed trading cards online.

What this is

The report card grades how the big stores treat regular people buying sealed trading cards online. Part of Printed Price's mission is pushing big retailers to protect regular buyers, and the stores that already do some of this show it can be done. A public score makes it easy to see who is doing better, who is doing worse, and what each store could fix.

How a store is scored

Each store is graded out of 100 on four things. Price and fair access count the most.

  • Price. How close the store's own price is to the price printed on the box (MSRP).
  • Fair access. A queue, a drawing or invitations for hot items, and purchase limits that hold.
  • Stopping bots. Bots stopped before checkout, so real people are not left fighting cart errors.
  • Transparency. Drops announced ahead of time, and openness about how much stock went up and how orders were allocated.

Scores come from what shoppers can see for themselves: posted prices, how drops run, and what buyers report. No store pays to be scored or can pay to change its score. We update a score when a store changes how it sells.

The scores

Last reviewed September 28, 2026. None of these stores is transparent enough about how much stock goes up or how orders are allocated.

Walmart77/100
Price: good · Fair access: good · Bots: weak · Transparency: weak
  • Drawings for the hottest items, at Walmart's own price, close to MSRP
  • Reseller listings above MSRP show next to Walmart's own unless you filter them out
  • Bots and resellers still swarm regular drops
  • Not transparent about stock or allocation
Pokémon Center75/100
Price: strong · Fair access: fair · Bots: weak · Transparency: poor
  • Sells at MSRP
  • Its own exclusive items, like the Pokémon Center Elite Trainer Box
  • A waiting room and purchase limits
  • Drops and queue days are never announced ahead of time
  • Checkout errors are common once you get through
  • Not transparent about stock or allocation
Amazon56/100
Price: weak · Fair access: weak · Bots: poor · Transparency: poor
  • An invitation program for some hot items
  • Many drops happen outside the invitation program
  • Lots of overpriced third-party sellers listed next to Amazon's own stock
  • Bots usually buy out stock in minutes
  • The price can change between your cart and checkout
  • Not transparent about stock or allocation
Target55/100
Price: weak · Fair access: poor · Bots: poor · Transparency: poor
  • A smaller markup than most: $59.99 for an Elite Trainer Box with a $49.99 MSRP
  • Online restocks often land between 3 and 5 in the morning Eastern
  • No queue or drawing for card drops that we have seen
  • Sold out in minutes, with cart errors along the way
  • Not transparent about stock or allocation
GameStop54/100
Price: poor · Fair access: weak · Bots: weak · Transparency: poor
  • Takes pre-orders in store
  • Prices often double MSRP or more
  • Hot items often sold only in bundles
  • Asks for deposits on pre-orders
  • Not transparent about stock or allocation
Dick's Sporting Goods53/100
Price: poor · Fair access: weak · Bots: poor · Transparency: poor
  • A lottery for hot items
  • Dick's own prices are well above MSRP, highest on release day, lottery included. The Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box was listed at $80 against a $49.99 MSRP.
  • Heavy scalper activity
  • Not transparent about stock or allocation

Where things stand

No big store has this solved. Pokémon Center runs a waiting room with purchase limits, and Best Buy uses invitations. Walmart's drawings give everyone the same chance, but reseller listings show up right next to Walmart's own unless you filter to "sold and shipped by Walmart". Amazon has an invitation program for some hot items, but many drops happen outside it, bots usually buy out stock in minutes, overpriced third-party sellers sit next to Amazon's own listings, and the price can change between adding an item to your cart and checking out. GameStop takes pre-orders in store, but prices Pokémon products well above MSRP, often double or more, and hot items often come only in bundles. Dick's Sporting Goods runs a lottery for hot items, but its own prices are well above MSRP, highest on release day ($80 listed for the $49.99 Pitch Black Elite Trainer Box), and scalping there is terrible. Target is the hardest big store to get through for regular buyers right now, though its own prices stay closer to MSRP than GameStop's or Dick's. Online restocks often land between 3 and 5 in the morning Eastern, they sell out in minutes with cart errors along the way, and we have not seen a queue or drawing for card drops. They all need work, and we will say so here when any of them improves.

For retailers

How card shops get listed on Printed Price, and what we ask of the big stores.

For card shops

Printed Price links buyers straight to sealed Pokémon and Lorcana product at independent card shops, at the price the shop sets. Local game stores and reputable online shops are a big part of this site. Many sell a little above MSRP, or at market price, and that is their call. The only shops we steer people away from are shady ones, or ones acting like scalpers.

  • Free, no sign-up. There is no fee to be listed. Buyers click through to your own product page and buy from you.
  • Every shop is checked first. We look at your website, contact details and independent reviews before listing a shop. Shops with a pattern of complaints are not listed.
  • What we read. Only the public product catalog your online store publishes, about every two hours, and less often when you have no sealed Pokémon or Lorcana in stock. If your robots.txt asks readers to skip your catalog, we skip your shop.
  • What we never do. We never add to a cart, check out or buy anything. Our reader names itself PrintedPrice and links to this page.
  • What shows. English sealed Pokémon and Lorcana products, next to the price printed on the box (MSRP) and how far over or under it your price is. Prices are shown before shipping.
  • Getting listed. Email info@printedprice.com with your shop's website.
  • Getting removed. Email info@printedprice.com from your shop's email address and we take your shop off the same day.

What we ask of big retailers

Part of the mission is pushing big retailers to protect regular buyers online. The stores that already do some of this show it can be done.

  • A fair line. A queue or a drawing for hot products, like Pokémon Center's waiting room or Walmart's collectibles drawings, instead of a race that bots win.
  • Limits that hold. Per-customer limits enforced across accounts, cards and addresses, not just per order.
  • Bots stopped before checkout, so real people are not left fighting cart errors.
  • Drops announced ahead of time, at hours when people are awake.
  • The price you add to your cart is the price you pay.
  • The store's own stock first. Reseller listings above MSRP should not sit next to the store's own on hot items.
  • Transparency about how much stock went up and how orders were allocated.

How each big store measures up today is on the store report card.

Why this exists

Printed Price started as a personal tool, built by a newborn's father who wanted to start a Pokémon collection for his son the way a lot of us had one growing up: a booster box here, an elite trainer box there, at the price printed on the box.

That turned out to be the hard part. Sealed product sells out in minutes, resellers list it the same afternoon at double, and the tools that help you keep up are paid Discord servers running bots. Joining that was not an option. So he built his own, and this is the version anyone can use.

The idea is a single pane of glass. Release dates, pre-order windows, store queues, MSRP listings, the news and the rumors sit in one place, so you are not juggling a dozen tabs, apps and group chats to find out what is coming and where to buy it.

What it does

  • Shows what is coming. Release dates, pre-order windows and MSRP, from official announcements.
  • Points you to the fair ways in. Retailer queues, invitation lists and drawings. Those exist so ordinary people get a shot, and most people never hear about them in time.
  • Collects the news and the rumors from official sources, community press and public forums, with each claim marked by how well it is supported. Links go to the source; nothing is copied.
  • Lists sealed product at MSRP from independent card shops that publish their inventory, so honest retailers get a larger audience than a bot would ever give them.

What it will never do

  • No bots. It never joins a queue, adds to a cart or checks out for anyone.
  • No polling of retailers. It reads announcements, feeds and public indexes, once, for everyone.
  • No scalper listings. Marketplace resellers are filtered out, and anything over MSRP is labelled with exactly how much over. Every MSRP shows where it comes from: an official price for that product, or the standard price for its type. When a price was never announced, the site says so instead of guessing.
  • No sign-ups. No accounts, no Discord server to join, no paid alert group, no email list. You open the site and use it.
  • No selling of your information. There is nothing here to sell: what you save stays in your own browser, and the site keeps no accounts or visitor profiles. Visits are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you.

Retailers

We score how the big stores treat regular buyers on the store report card. Card shops, and anyone curious how shops get listed here, can read For retailers.

The goal is simple: more people enjoying the hobby at the price it was meant to cost. If people ask for features that need an account, like reminders on your phone or syncing between devices, those will be optional, and everything you see today stays free without one.
