Lorcana chase cards: what Enchanted, Epic and Iconic mean when you buy sealed
Every Lorcana booster can hold a card worth far more than the pack. Those chase cards are a big reason boxes sell over MSRP when a set comes out. Here's what they are, how rare they really are, and what that means before Hyperia City, which prereleases on October 16 and releases widely on October 23.
In short
- Three chase tiers sit above Legendary: Epic, Enchanted and Iconic. A recent set has 18 Epics, 18 Enchanteds and just 2 Iconics.
- There are no official odds. Ravensburger has never published pull rates. Every number online, including the figures below, is a community estimate.
- One pack, one foil slot. In a standard booster, every chase card comes from that slot, so a pack can hold one at most.
- Want one card? Buy that card. Opening boxes to find one specific chase card usually costs far more than buying it on its own.
- Buy sealed to play and collect, at or near the price on the box, not as a lottery ticket.
The rarity ladder
Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare and Legendary make up a regular set. Above them sit the chase tiers. The easiest way to see the difference is the same card at two rarities.

Epic (new with Fabled, September 2025). The same art as a regular card, opened up to the edges, with a rainbow foil. There are 18 per set: rarer than Legendary, more common than Enchanted. In the community sample below it was the steadiest premium pull, two or three a box.

Enchanted. A full-art foil with new artwork themed to the set. Attack of the Vine! has 18. In the community sample below it came to about one every one to two boxes, with plenty of boxes holding none. Other estimates are much rarer, closer to one per case.

Iconic (also new with Fabled). Only two per set, and in Ravensburger's words "far less common than Enchanted cards", with full-card art, a special foil and raised 3D stamping. In one community count of about 230 packs, not a single Iconic turned up. Community estimates of how often Iconics appear vary dramatically, and none are official.
One pack, one foil slot
A standard Lorcana booster has 12 cards: six commons, three uncommons, two cards that are rare or better, and one foil. The foil can be any rarity, and it's the only slot that can hold an Epic, an Enchanted or an Iconic. So no single standard pack can give you two of them. Collector Boosters, coming in 2027, are built differently (see below).
How rare is rare?
The chart below is an illustration, not the rate boxes are packed at. It shows what one community count found across about 230 packs (9 boxes) of Attack of the Vine!, averaged per 24-pack booster box. Nine boxes is a small sample, other estimates differ (some by a lot), and Ravensburger hasn't published odds. Your boxes can come in well above or below these numbers.
- Legendaryabout 6 a box (4 to 8)
- Epic2 or 3 a box
- Enchantedabout 1 every 1 to 2 boxes
- Iconicnone in these 9 boxes
What it means for one specific card: even when a box holds an Enchanted, it's one of 18 different ones, so the chance it's the one you want is small. Finding one particular Enchanted by opening boxes can take many boxes, and one particular Iconic, one of just two and far rarer, is a much longer shot. That's why buying the single you want is almost always cheaper.
Why chase cards push box prices up
At launch, the top chase cards often sell for hundreds or even thousands of dollars, and the Iconics usually lead. Some buyers open boxes hoping to hit one, so sealed boxes often sell over MSRP in launch week, while chase-card prices tend to be at their highest. Both tend to come down as more product is opened and shipped. For the full picture, see why sealed cards cost so much.
What's chasing in Hyperia City
Hyperia City, set 14, has prerelease events at game stores from October 16 and goes on sale everywhere October 23. A booster box is $143.76 (24 packs at $5.99) and an Illumineer's Trove is $49.99. Its two Iconics are Mickey Mouse, Best in Town and Cinderella, Unintentional Icon. Mickey also appears in the set as a regular Super Rare:

Enchanteds revealed so far include Miguel Rivera, Street Musician and Pepita, Imelda's Right Hand. The full list arrives with the set. Dates and MSRPs for every Hyperia City product are on Lorcana releases.
Coming next: serialized cards in Collector Boosters
Into the Inkdark (February 2027) brings Lorcana's first Collector Boosters: 12 premium foil cards a pack, at $34.99 a pack or $419.88 for a 12-pack box. Their chase cards are Illustrious cards: six per set, each numbered to only 23 copies, with art by guest artists. Collector Boosters will be sold only at select Ravensburger Play Hubs, the Ravensburger Online Store, and Disney Parks and stores. Expect very high demand and big resale markups. We'll track where and when to get them at the box price.

Buying sealed at a fair price
- Buy boxes and packs to play and collect, at or near MSRP. Our Lorcana deals list vetted shops near the box price, and Windows shows pre-orders and drops as they open.
- Want one chase card? Buy that card. It's usually far cheaper than opening boxes to find it.
- Skip loose packs from sellers you don't know. Early Lorcana packs were reported to be weighable to find Enchanteds. Whether or not that's still true, a factory-sealed box from a store you trust is the safest buy.
- Launch week is often one of the priciest periods. Prices tend to settle once more product ships.
- Prerelease is the earliest way in, at your local game store from October 16, at the store's own price.
